A passel of wild boars has attacked a group of children going to school in Bara area of Khyber District, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday
In wake of shrinking habitats of wild animals due to the sprawling human settlements, the incidents of citizens coming under attack by wild boars and leopards have increased in the Khyber region.
In this incident, the wild boards barged into a populated area of Bara, attacked the school children injuring one of them.
The local residents dashed to scene after hearing the children’s voice and shot dead all the wild boars.
In February last, three people, including a woman, had been seriously injured in an attack by wild boars in Galyat region while a leopard was caught alive by the officials of the wildlife department.
Wild boars had entered the local population in Nagri Bala village of Galyat region and attacked three passers-by, including a woman, leaving them seriously injured.
The increasing population of wild boars, porcupines and monkeys in parts of Tirah and upper Bara has also been causing damage to standing crops and inflicting losses on farmers.
Farmers in the area said that population of those wild animals had increased manifolds during their decade-long displacement from their homes.
