NA speaker nominates MPs for judicial commission

National Assembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Saturday wrote a letter to the Supreme Judicial Commission (SJC) for the constitution of a judicial commission for the appointments of judges to the Supreme Court (SC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


In the letter, the speaker nominated Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Omar Ayub Khan and PML-N MNA Sheikh Aftab for the commission, while from Senate, he nominated Farooq H. Naek and Shibli Faraz.  


For the woman’s seat, the speaker nominated Roshan Khurshid Barocha.  


Five members of the parliament (MPs) were included in the commission following the passage of the 26th constitutional amendment.


Both the government and the opposition are equally represented in it.


The speaker forwarded the names after consultations with Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and all parliamentary parties’ heads.
