The Punjab cabinet has approved the purchase of BMWs at the cost of Rs500 million for the security of Chinese nationals working on different projects in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sources told 24News TV channel that the cabinet gave the approval on the recommendation of the provincial inspector general of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar.
The federal government had in 2016 purchased BMWs for the Chinese nationals and the VIPs.
However, after 2016, the number of Chinese nationals working on different projects, including those related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), increased outnumbering the BMWs, sources said, adding that the cars would be original, of 2021 model, and would be bombproof.
