A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court challenging the police's action of registering 52 cases against a 12-year-old boy, Muzammil Hussain, in a single police station in Allahabad, District Kasur, on Wednesday.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the petition, submitted by Muzammil's father, Liaqat Ali, claims that the child was initially arrested in an unknown case and subjected to torture.

Following this, the Kasur police allegedly forced the boy to confess to motorcycle and vehicle thefts, which led to his involvement in 52 different cases.

The petitioner has made the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab, among others, a respondent in the case.

The petition seeks a high-level investigation into the matter and requests that the court dismiss all the cases against the child.

The Lahore High Court's Registrar's Office has scheduled the hearing as an objection case before Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi.

The petitioner's appeal emphasises the need for judicial intervention to ensure justice for the young boy.
