Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has temporarily suspended its flight operations to Turkey, with no flights scheduled to operate until October 13.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the suspension comes as a result of PIA's failure to settle dues related to airline inventory and airport slots at Istanbul Airport.
Sources indicate that PIA halted its operations in Turkey on September 28 due to these outstanding payments.
PIA has been operating four weekly flights from Islamabad and Lahore to Turkey, which will now remain suspended until the payment issues are resolved.
--Inventory and Slots--
Inventory in the airline context refers to the resources needed to manage flight operations, while airport slots are crucial for securing specific take-off and landing times at busy airports like Istanbul.
Failure to pay for these essential resources has led to this temporary halt in operations. The suspension has caused disruption for passengers and has highlighted the ongoing financial challenges faced by the national carrier.
