Retired major abducted for Rs200 million ransom rescued in Karachi

Karachi police rescued a retired Major in a successful joint operation by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) from Karachi's Nazimabad area on Wednesday.


According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, retired Major Ahmed Waseem was kidnapped from Khayaban-e-Sehar in Karachi's Gizri area on September 28 for ransom.


As per the police report, the abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs 200 million in cash and gold bars from the victim’s family.


The main suspect behind the abduction, Noor-ul-Ain Qazi, has been arrested.


Following the registration of a case, the AVCC and other agencies launched a coordinated operation, leading to the successful recovery of retired Major Ahmed Waseem. 


The channel reported that the authorities are now investigating the criminal record of the arrested suspect, and further investigations are underway.
