The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi team Wednesday raided Sindh Minister for Irrigation, Zakat & Ushr, Auqaf Sohail Anwar Siyal’s house at Bakrani Road in Larkana in a case pertaining to assets beyond known means, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The anti-corruption watchdog team searched Siyal's house for several hours and had taken important documents into custody.
However, Siyal said the house belonged to his late father and was declared with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). He termed the raid as “running a trial against his father's grave,” and said he believed the anti-graft watchdog is now using revenge tactics.
The minister said NAB had informed the accountability court that investigation against him began in 2019, while his father had passed away before that time.
It is pertinent to note that in 2019 year, NAB's Sukkur chapter sought details of assets belonging to the family members and certain close relatives of Siyal from the departments/organisations concerned in an inquiry into alleged misappropriation of public money.
