The Taliban have the right to raise voice for Muslims anywhere, including in Indian-held Kashmir, a spokesman said on Thursday.

The Taliban don’t have the policy of going for an armed operation against any state including India, Suhail Shaheen told the BBC.

He added that Being Muslims, they will voice for the Muslims' rights in the Indian-held Kashmir.

Indian media has been running an anti-Taliban campaign, he said and recalled the allegations of the group's role in the Indian aircraft hijack.

India should have expressed gratitude to the Taliban for their efforts to secure the release of its people, Suhail Shaheen said, adding that they acted on the request by Delhi.
