Province has received 800% more rainfall than average

Sindh Chief Minister has said the flood has so far claimed 470 lives across the province that received 800% more rainfall than the average, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Friday.   

The situation is more critical than the floods of 2010-11, the Sindh CM said while addressing a press conference.

A total of 8,314 people sustained injuries, and thousands of families were displaced due to the devastating flood, he said, adding that infrastructure has been ruined as Sindh received 1,100mm record rain this year and the calamity-hit people are in dire need of help.

He renewed the provincial government’s resolve to provide all-out support to the disaster-hit people, saying that the provincial government has been doing all it could to reach out to the affected.

Also,  the CM headed a meeting at the PDMA office.  Ministers Mukesh Kumar Chawla, Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, Provincial Secretaries Khalid Shaikh, Asif Memon, and DG PDMA Salman Shah participated in the meeting.

Murad issues directives to expedite the delivery of supplies to victims, saying: “My people are suffering, this is the time to ease their suffering.”

He expressed gratitude to philanthropists and welfare organizations for their part in the cause.

“I will personally monitor the supplies received by the victims on a daily basis,” he said.
