Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb Tuesday termed Prime Minister Imran Khan a responsible for the historic inflation in the country.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, Maryam Aurangzeb says the PM had witnessed a resurgence of inflation in the country in the last one month but the finance ministry was lying to him about a reduction in it.
The PML-N spokesperson said people could neither eats flour, rice, sugar, milk, curd, vegetables nor pay electricity and gas bills due to the storm of inflation, adding the Pakistanis could also neither pay rent nor take medicine for the sick.
Maryam said according to the statistics agency, inflation had risen while the Ministry of Finance was lying about the reduction. She added that inflation rose to 8.4 percent in July only.
She said the PM’s house was being run by the ATMs so he was considering Pakistan the cheapest country for living but the facts were against it because the poor were facing miserable life here.
Showing some statistics of inflations in the last month of July 2021, she said food prices raised by 9.4 percent in urban areas and 7.3 percent in rural areas.
Other food items including tomato prices raised up to 82.40 percent, onions 34.53 percent, edible ghee (oil) 6.70 percent, sugar 5.08 percent, potatoes 4.89 percent, pulses 4.89 percent, vegetables 3.69 percent, eggs 3.48 percent, spices 2.65 percent, she said.
The PML-N spokesperson also said that in the year from July 2020 to July 2021, edible oil become expensive by 33.32 percent, eggs 24.07 percent, sugar 23.01 percent, flour 14.92 percent, milk 1.19 percent and rice 1.05 percent.
