Federal Minister for Railways and PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Wednesday expressed his government’s resolve to take the PTI foreign funding case to its logical conclusion, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said this should be investigated as to why foreign firms had funded the party. “What was the agenda of these companies?” he asked.
He also hit out at former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan for making ominous predictions like Pakistan becoming another ‘Sri Lanka’. “I want to ask Imran for how long will he keep telling lies to the nation?” he questioned.
Saad also criticized the mode of arresting Nazir Chohan, a PTI turncoat, who fought the recent by-election in Punjab on the PML-N ticket. “The way he was picked up by police and bundled into a van it appeared as if he was a terrorist,” the minister commented.
He further said that Imran had developed the habit of blaming his opponents all the time.
Saad claimed that it was the PTI government that had left the country’s economy on ventilator.
He went on to say that it was wrong to say that the PTI government was shown the door through ‘unconstitutional means’. “We did not throw out the party government through sit-ins and long march, but through a vote of no-trust,” he said categorically.
Truth of the matter was that, the minister added, that the PTI chairman wanted the chief justice of his liking and the chief election commissioner of his liking. “Why do you want ‘preferential treatment’? Have you descended from heavens?” Saad questioned.
He also praised the role of the country’s armed forces for rendering services for the country. “We salute the martyrs of Pakistan Army who laid down their lives yesterday while monitoring relief and rescue activities in Balochistan,” PML-N leader said.
He said that a cell had been constituted to carry out relief work for those affected by floods in the country’s largest province. “Government officers, from grade-17 to grade-22, will donate their one-day salary to the Fund set up for the purpose,” he informed.
