Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has opened the Sumanabad Underpass for traffic, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

About 200, 000 vehicles will move through the underpass every day and millions of rupees will be saved in terms of fuel.

The Rs2 billion underpass is 440 meters long and consists of 2 lanes

Due to regular follow-ups, the project was completed two months before the deadline (September 30),

During the construction of the underpass, Multan Road was not closed to traffic even for a single day.

The major challenge in the completion of the Sumanabad underpass was saving valuable trees and shifting the sewerage line.

By changing the design of the underpass, a total of 78 valuable trees were saved and 300 new samplings were planted on the greenbelt.

LDA DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa and his team deserve appreciation for completing the tough task as heavy rains remained one of the challenges.

The completion of the underpass will benefit the people of Sumanabad, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Tawheed Park, Multan Road, Chaubarji, Yatim Khana and adjoining areas.
