A police official, along with his brother, unleashed his pet dogs on a woman and her four-year-old boy in Banyan village in the jurisdiction of Kakrali police station of Kharian, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The four-year-old boy, identified as Waleed, sustained critical injuries in the incident.
The neighbours saved the lives of the boy and her mother after a great effort.
The boy was referred to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital in Gujrat in critical condition.
The affected woman, Salma Bibi, submitted a complaint to Kakrali police.
The police registered a case against the accused including police official Nadeem and his brother Ibrahim. However, they were yet to be arrested.
Seven injured in attack by mad dog in Jhelum

The administration has so far taken no measure to eliminate the stray dogs roaming around the city.
A few days ago, 13 people were injured in an attack by a stray dog.
