The Bombay High Court has recently issued an order restraining platforms that provide AI tools from using or exploiting eminent Bollywood singer Arijit Singh's personality rights.

The court observed that celebrities are vulnerable to unauthorized AI-generated content, which violates their personality rights.

Justice Chagla said, “What shocks the conscience of this Court is how celebrities, particularly performers such as the present Plaintiff (Singh) are vulnerable to being targeted by unauthorized generative AI content such as that of some of the Defendants herein.”

The filed lawsuit sought the protection of Singh's personality rights concerning his name, voice, signature, photograph, image, caricature, likeness, persona, and other attributes against unauthorized commercial exploitation and misuse.

Moreover, Singh issued an apology to his fans as he had to postpone his UK concert dates due to ‘unforeseen medical circumstances’.

He took to his Instagram handle and shared a note that reads, “Important update & info... Dear fans, it pains me to share that unforeseen medical circumstances have forced me to postpone our August concerts."

“I know how eagerly you were waiting for these shows and I’m truly sorry for the disappointment", he added.

Concluding the note, Singh penned, “Your love and support are my strength. Let’s turn this pause into a promise of an even more magical reunion. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and unwavering love. I can’t wait to create unforgettable memories with you all. With heartfelt apologies and endless gratitude... Arijit Singh.”

Singh also confirmed that the rescheduled dates for the shows will be September 15 and 16 for London and Birmingham whereas he will perform at Rotterdam on 19 of next month and Manchester on the 22nd.
