Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that the visa-free facility for Iraqi citizens will be implemented soon, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
A high-level delegation led by Iraq's Rapid Response Unit Commander Lt Gen Dr Tahamir Ismail arrived at the Ministry of Interior on Saturday where Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the guests.
On this occasion, issues of mutual interest, letting Pakistani pilgrims not to hand over passports in Iraq and providing them maximum facilities were discussed.
In the meeting, training of Iraqi police in Pakistan and cooperation in Safe City project were also discussed, while there was a discussion on increasing cooperation to stop illegal immigration and human trafficking.
The Iraqi delegation also invited Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to visit Iraq.
On this occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the proposal of not taking passports from pilgrims going to Iraq requires immediate action. It is hoped that the Iraqi government will take a final decision in this regard soon. Pakistan has decided to provide visa-free facility for Iraqi citizens, which will be implemented soon.
He said that Iraqis will provide all possible support for the training of the police and in the Safe City project, support will be provided to Iraq at all levels.
Commander Iraqi Rapid Response Unit Lieutenant General Dr. Tahamir Ismail said that DG Passport will be discussed with regard to not taking passports from Pakistani pilgrims and hopefully the issue will be resolved, brothers and sisters coming from Pakistan are respectable for us.
The Iraqi delegation included Brigadier General Commander of Protection Regiment Aqeel Kazim, Brigadier General Abdul Hussain, Muhammad Sohail and others while Federal Interior Secretary Khurram Ali Agha and MD NRTC Brigadier Muhammad Asim were also present on the occasion.
