Popular Pakistani fashion designer and social activist Maria Butt has announced to file a case against the ongoing controversial web series ‘Barzakh’ in court.
Maria. B recently took to her Instagram handle and shared a video in which she questioned the series and made a clarification for the producer that we, as Muslims, were not going to indulge in your propaganda which as per her, promotes LGBTQ.
Further, the activist stated that “Barzakh has tried to promote LGBTQ agenda, normalized pre-marital sex and has themes promoting sexual grooming in children.”
Maria. B. claimed that for the sake of some pennies ‘Barzakh’ team is playing with emotions or misleading the Muslim society. She said that as Fawad Khan once said, in an interview, people will get casual with gay love after finding it in the media.
Here is what she stated in the caption “No we will not get used to this Agenda. We will not sit and watch them spread this filth among our children. The biggest HARAAM concepts of Zina, LGBTQ, Qom-e-Lut, and child grooming are all being glamorized shamelessly in this drama!!
"We the People... the parents of Pakistan will unite and protect our children Insha'Allah ... raise your voices Pakistan.”
'Barzakh' is a new series directed by Asim Abbasi featuring Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, Salman Shahid, and others in the cast.
The series has a mystical element to it and the story is disclosing itself with each new episode of the drama serial.
The themes in the series incorporated into homosexuality and life here-after. Mainly, the series centers on a 76-year-old recluse who reunites with his estranged family to celebrate his unconventional marriage to the spirit of his first love.
Earlier, Asim Abbasi defended his LGBTQ creation when a fan texted the writer and called him out for glorifying the LGBTQ agenda with pride.
The fan wrote, “Please don’t add more to the fire by saying he ‘chose’ Saifu. They’re asking to boycott the show, and you’re giving them more reasons to do it. Glorifying these characters in the name of art is distasteful. It was wrong in Churails, it’s wrong here”.
Responding to the fan's statement and criticism, Asim Abbasi openly defended his LGBTQ creation and said, “With all due respect, if you find queer/non-heteronormative storylines “distasteful” please do not watch my content. Thank you.”
Many other social media users also criticized the director for the storyline of the series.
