Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate largest scholarship programme of Punjab province titled “Honahaar Scholarship Programme” in Punjab University, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat visited Punjab University to review arrangements for inauguration ceremony of Honahaar Scholarship Programme. A technical and detailed briefing was given to provincial educational minister. The minister expressed his annoyance over unsatisfactory interior work and sought explanation from contractor.
He said that he will personally supervise interior work of the ceremony. During the briefing the minister was apprised that 68,000 students already applied for Honahaar Scholarship Programme. Students from 65 universities, 359 colleges and 12 medical colleges showed their interest in the programme.
He said that this scholarship programme being launched with an amount of Rs139 billion and will fulfill dreams of 30,000 students. Under the scheme 68 students will benefit from this scheme under discipline and other subjects.
He said that under this scheme tuition fees of under-graduate students will be paid for a period of 4 to five years.
Provincial Education Minister said that around 3,00,000 students from low-income families and their age is not more than 22 years will avail benefits through this scheme
