In the biggest robbery attempt in Karachi, four unknown street criminals looted Rs35 million from a Lahori goldsmith who went to the City of Quaid to sell his gold in broad day robbery on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to police, a goldsmith took Rs35 million from Gold Trade Tower after selling his gold and hired a rickshaw to transport such a big amount of money.
In the meanwhile, four armed muggers riding motorcycles encircled the auto at Sadr Dadupota Bypass. The frightened goldsmith requested the rickshaw driver to accelerate the speed of his auto which the driver obeyed.
But unfortunately, as the driver accelerated speed, his rickshaw turned upside down. The muggers quickly grabbed the bag full of currency notes and sped away on their bikes.
In another incident in the Bukhari Commercial area of Defence, a car rider hit two street criminals and injured them.
The criminals were running away after snatching cash and mobile phones from two salesmen who offered food catering services.
Police arrested the accused.
According to police, the accused were habitual criminals and were wanted in several crime incidents. Police also recovered arms and stolen goods from their possession.
