The Federal Investigation Agency has started probing irregularities against the Capital Development Authority in the Soan Garden Society project in Islamabad, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel on Friday.
The CDA is accused of incurring loss of billions of rupees to the national kitty while collaborating with the Soan Garden Society project.
The mortgage plots measuring 491 kanal and 16 marlas were sold illegally in the Soan Garden.
The mortgage plots were the property of the CDA which sold them out without carrying out any development work there.
The society illegally earned Rs500 million with the sale of mortgage plots.
The Soan Garden proprietors sold out plots reserved for building a model college, a mosque and a park by showing them as commercial plots.
By selling out plots reserved for public amenities, the Soan Garden earned Rs250 million.
The society also reduced the width of streets by 10 feet thus creating additional 125 new plots.
By carving out plots this way, the society minted Rs1.5 billion from the citizens.
The Soan Garden Scheme was launched in 2008 under the Civilian Employees Cooperative Act.
The cabinet division launched an inquiry into the CDA audit para in 2015.
When the case landed at the Public Accounts Committee, the FIA was entrusted to conduct an inquiry into it.
The FIA will submit its inquiry report after completing investigations against the CDA.
