JUI Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman has said that PECA Amendments Act 2025 has choked the freedom of expression in Pakistan, adding that for the powerful class the constitution has no value it can be amended as per their wishes, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel.
Talking to media outside parliament house in Islamabad, Fazl said that PECA law was passed unilaterally as journalist community was not consulted. He said President Zardari had assured JUI that Mohsin Naqvi will talk to media and redress their concerns but later perhaps Zardari received such pressure that the President signed at once.
JUI Chief said earlier 26th Constitutional Amendment was neutralized because of JUI pressure.
Fazl said there was not writ of the government in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and concerned department have failed to restore peace there. He said JUI feels soory when hearts about the martyrdom of Army men.
JUI Chief said earlier JUI had strong believe that the boundaries of the country were safe and secure but it was quite otherwise. He said we had made compromise on Jammu Kashmir because of global pressure.
He was of the view that now the government was trying to strain relations with Afghanistan. He feared that new proxy war being launched against Afghanistan. Fazl said target killing continue in tribal areas.
