The Lahore High Court Monday ruled that the Chief Minister's (CM) authority to appoint administrations without the approval of the Cabinet was illegal.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the LHC also ruled the notification dated 21 October 2022 granting powers to the administrators was illegal.
LHC Justice Shahid Jameel Khan issued the decision on the petition of Massers (M/s) Malik Mazhar Hussain Goraya and termed the 20-page decision a judicial precedent.
According to the decision, all new development projects without the approval of the local government are illegal and the grants allocated for the assembly members under the administrative order are also illegal.
According to the court decision, the Election Commission should conduct the local body elections immediately after the completion of delimitations.
