Former Federal Law Minister and Senator Azam Nazir Tarar Tuesday stated that the Supreme Court's bench, addressing the issue of disqualification, was not established solely for Nawaz Sharif, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a media talk at Hafizabad, he highlighted that the amendment in the disqualification case would not only benefit Nawaz Sharif but also approximately a hundred parliamentarians.
The hearing of disqualification cases in the Supreme Court is deemed a progressive move by Chief Justice Fazal Issa, he hinted.
“Chief Justice Fazal Issa's initiative aims to eliminate contradictions arising from judicial decisions. In cases where judicial rulings create ambiguity, the parliament has the authority to rectify them through legislative amendments, as explained in Section 232 of the Election Act,” he remarked.
Azam Nazir Tarar also asserted that during the sixteen-month tenure of the PDM, Shahbaz Sharif efficiently managed the loans incurred by the PTI government.
The Sharif brothers, through their political acumen, successfully steered the state out of crises, the barrister added.
“Presently, the PTI is reaping the benefits of court relief, with its candidates receiving assurances and favorable decisions.”
The Senator said some reservations regarding the postponement of the elections of Maula Fazlur Rahman are correct.
“The leadership of Muslim League (N) can go to Karachi and claim development like Punjab, but unfortunately, the leadership of the People's Party came to Punjab and there is no such development. Can't claim either,” he added.
