The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued an eight-page written order on the petition of citizen Mubashir Almas and put a ban on collection of burial fees in graveyards across the province by the concerned departments of the Punjab government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

The LHC also directed the provincial government to set up model cemeteries in four cities of Punjab and banned collection of money for burials in cemeteries.

LHC Chief Justice Qasim Khan has issued the eight-page written verdict in the case of establishing illegal housing schemes on green parks.

The provincial apex court ordered the Punjab government to amend the law for ‘free burial’ in cemeteries.

The written decision of the LHC includes hadiths and international laws.

The petitioner pleaded that citizens pay taxes to the government all their lives and even when they die they have to pay money in the name of graves and burial services.
