PM Shehbaz emphasizes on strengthening ties in meeting with Tajik President

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon during his two-day visit to Tajikistan.


Upon his arrival, Prime Minister Sharif was warmly welcomed by President Rahmon, emphasizing the long-standing brotherly relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan.


During their meeting, discussions focused on enhancing mutual cooperation in various fields, with Prime Minister Sharif highlighting Pakistan's unlimited potential for international investment in sectors such as energy, minerals, industry, and agriculture. He invited the Tajik President to invest in Pakistan and to expand regional and social ties between the two nations.


The visit began with a ceremony where Prime Minister Sharif laid a wreath at the monument of Ismail Somoni, a historic figure of Central Asia and a national hero of Tajikistan. Somoni is celebrated for his rule in the 9th and 10th centuries, which brought significant development to the region.


Upon arrival at Dushanbe airport, Prime Minister Sharif was received by Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, Energy Minister Daler Juma, Deputy Foreign Minister Farrukh Sharifzoda, Tajik Ambassador in Islamabad Yousuf Sharifzoda, Pakistan Ambassador in Dushanbe Saeed Sarwar, and senior diplomatic officers.


He was accompanied by a high-level delegation including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatemi.


The prime minister was given a guard of honor upon his arrival, with national anthems of both countries played. The prime minister and the president then reviewed the guard of honor presented by the smartly turned out contingents of the Tajik armed forces.


Later, both leaders introduced their respective delegations, marking the start of discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and exploring avenues for increased cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
