Pakistani public is now bashing actress Uzma Khan for taking a U-turn. They are calling her greedy, homewrecker, and what not for creating a whole lot of drama and then withdraw the case.
Actor Uzma Khan on Tuesday withdrew the case against three women and their armed guards whom she had accused last week of torturing her and her sister after angrily storming a house where she was staying in Lahore's DHA neighbourhood.
Earlier, Video clips showing torture carried out on Uzma Khan and her sister, allegedly by the daughters of property tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain, had sparked outrage and calls for justice on social media.
Uzma on Tuesday told a judicial magistrate at Cantonment Courts that she did not want to pursue a case she got registered last week against daughters of a business tycoon Malik Riaz.
The actor further stated that she did not want to present any witness in the case since the challan had also not been filed by the police. She maintained that her statement was voluntary and without any coercion or inducement.
The development came as two members of Uzma's legal team, Hassaan Niazi and Khadija Siddiqi, announced that they were dissociating themselves from the case.
“This is to announce that we are disassociating from #UzmaKhan case. I understand the reasons of any settlement by two aggrieved women in a rigged system; my conscience doesn’t allow me to be part of any of that, even in a professional capacity,” Siddiqi said in a tweet.
Niazi, meanwhile, wrote: “Since the first day, I had made it clear to my client that we won’t be part of any settlement. I only accepted the case to support the resolve of Uzma to get justice for her.”
Meanwhile, Bahria Town has served a legal notice on Hassaan Niazi for defaming Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz by wrongly implicating him in the Uzma Khan case.
In a tweet on May 30, Advocate Azhar Siddique stated that he had filed a defamation suit against Barrister Niazi for maligning Malik Riaz and sought Rs5 billion in damages.
