Another suspect involved in the attack on General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi has been identified while another suspect involved in the attack on Radio Pakistan building in Peshawar on May 9 last has been arrested, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The name of the accused, who attacked the GHQ, is Mian Atif Mehmood Qureshi, and he is the vice president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Rawalpindi. He is a resident of Mohalla Qureshian.
The accused actively participated in the GHQ attack. He made petrol bombs and threw them towards the main gate of the GHQ.
He also shouted anti-government slogans and played a key role in the May 9 vandalism in Rawalpindi.
A noose around him has now been tightened.
Second suspect arrested from Charsadda
Police have arrested second main suspect in Radio Pakistan, Peshawar attack case from Charsadda.
The man had not only set radio’s building on fire but had also vandalized it.
Police have also claimed to have recovered tape recorders and microphone from him.
Thousands of people had gone berserk in different cities of the country following the arrest of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Islamabad on May 9, 2023.
People took to streets in Peshawar, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Karachi, Quetta and other cities to vent their anger at the authorities for arresting their leader in such a rude manner.
