Supreme Court judge Justice Qazi Faiz Isa issued a clarification about a clip circulating on social media giving the impression that he did not shake hands with CJP Umar Ata Bandial at the swearing-in ceremony of the Federal Sharia Court chief justice.
He said he met the CJP immediately after the oath-taking which was not shown in the clip
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial administered the oath to Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rahman as the chief justice of the Shariat Court.
He said he congratulated the FSC chief justice and his wife. He added as the latter wanted to introduce him to her relatives, he turned toward her when Justice Bandial appeared in the shot.
“Someone recorded this moment and projected it falsely and incorrectly,” he said, laying stress on abstaining from spreading misleading news which results in creating misunderstanding.
He rubbished the rumours about a split in the supreme judiciary. He continued: “Factually incorrect stories should not be propagated, as they cause unnecessary and avoidable misgivings and harm”.
“I stand by my oath of office, to defend and uphold the Constitution of Pakistan and cannot concur with anything less. Garnishing facts to create a controversial narrative is damaging to the institution.
“Let us not be detracted, let us work together to build a strong judicial system which focuses on the administration of expeditious justice.”
Joining hands for tree plantation
CJP Bandial and Justice Qazi participated in the tree-planting campaign at the Supreme Court
They jointly planted saplings in the garden of the Supreme Court. They had a conversation in a pleasant atmosphere too. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Manullah were also present.
