A guard escorting a cash van of a firm lost his life when unidentified persons tried to steal millions of rupees from it near Korangi police station in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

A video made by a citizen just a few hundred meters away from the site of the incident, which 24News TV channel has managed to obtain, shows some armed men dressed in a police uniform intercepting a van and trying to steal Rs7 million cash from it at stone’s throw from the local police station.    

But the attempt was foiled by the guards accompanying that van. 

An exchange of fire between the robbers and the guards could also be seen in the video, which resulted in the immediate death of one of the guards identified as Ashok.
