2.5m vaccinated against coronavirus so far: Faisal Sultan

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan on Monday said that the vaccination of people; aged 40 and above, against the coronavirus will begin today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

He said 2.5 million people in Pakistan had been administered the vaccine so far while 100 million Pakistanis were eligible for receiving the jab.    

Speaking in Islamabad on Monday, he further said that 190 million doses of the vaccine would be received by June-end this year while an agreement had been signed for the procurement of 30 million more.

Praising China for transferring vaccine technology to Pakistan, the SAPM hoped that soon the country would be producing vaccine in collaboration with China.

“We want to vaccinate 70 million against the pandemic by the end of this year,” he informed. 

Dr Sultan said that the first vaccine in Pakistan was administered on January 2, 2021 while in India on January 16, 2021.
