An accountability court in Lahore Wednesday accepted the plea of former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar for exemption from personal appearance and extended his interim bail till May 6 next in the assets beyond means case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Khurshid Alam Advocate appeared on behalf of Usman Buzdar and informed the court about the latter’s appearance before the Lahore High Court (LHC) for protective bail in the anti-corruption case.
“The government wants to arrest Usman Buzdar in the anti-corruption case. He should be exempted from personal appearance before the court,” he pleaded.
Accountability Court judge Sajjad Ahmed Sheikh heard the bail plea. The court also sought the investigation report from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at the next hearing, directing Usman Buzdar to become part of the investigation.
Also, Usman Buzdar approached the LHC to get the details of the cases. He, in his plea, made the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) director general, Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) and others respondents.
After the approval of the LHC chief justice, Usman Buzdar’s plea will be fixed for hearing today.
