Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and Federal Minister for Aviation and Defence Production Khawaja Asif conducted a special joint visit to Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport on Friday, reported 24News HD TV channel.
According to the TV channel, both ministers showed their concerns over the facilities especially limited immigration counters and a very long search operation for travellers at the airport.
To enhance the convenience for outbound passengers at the Lahore Airport, the federal ministers sought plans to increase capacity at immigration counters and to streamline and expedite the search process, making it more efficient and user-friendly in collaboration with ASF, ANF, and Customs authorities.
Federal Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the urgent need to resolve immigration-related issues and enhance facilities for travellers. He directed concerned authorities to present a practical plan within the next 24 hours to facilitate passengers' immigration procedures and expedite the three levels' long search process.
Federal Minister Khawaja Asif said plans to extend successful search procedures initiated at Lahore Airport to other airports as well.
During the visit, a special meeting was also held at the airport in whcih Deputy Director-General of ASF, Colonel Shaukat from ANF, Director Sarfraz Work from FIA Lahore along with senior officials from Allama Iqbal International Airport participated and briefed on initiatives aimed at improving passenger facilities at the airport.
In the meeting, the ministers issued directives to relevant authorities to enhance convenience for travelers.
