Keeping in view the sensitivity of the firing incident during Imran Khan's long march on Thursday afternoon, the federal government demanded the Punjab government to form a joint investigation team (JIT).

According to the 24News HD TV channel, Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan along with Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb addressed a press conference and demanded Chaudhry Parvez Elahi to form a high-level JIT for free and fair investigation on the incident.

He said the Punjab government is responsible for the security lap in the long march and the leakage of video from the police officials so Punjab CM Parvez Elahi should resign.

He warned PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry for provoking people against the opponents to attack their houses and said he and his house could face the same consequences.

He said there is no doubt that Imran’s life is under threat but the country has also a threat by Imran Khan.

He said PTI leaders tried to politicize the incident against the facts and Shireen Mazari without any proof maligned him, PM Shehbaz Sharif, and an officer.

Rana Sanaullah said if there is an attempt to set a fire under the guise of this incident, no one will be safe.

Rana Sanaullah also expressed regret over the firing incident in the long march of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and sought a report from federal investigating agencies.

Expressing serious concerns over the firing in the PTI's long march, the federal interior minister also sought a detailed report of the incident from the Punjab Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Punjab Police.
