Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja Thursday called on President Arif Alvi with a proposal to hold general elections on February 11, 2024.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the Election Commission of Pakistan also wrote a letter to the President for holding the elections on the proposed date.
In the letter, the Chief Election Commissioner has proposed February 11 as the election date
The channel report said the CEC held a one-on-one meeting with the President for an hour and highlighted some legal suggestions regarding the hearing order of the Supreme Court on the matter.
In the meeting, the President was also briefed on issues related to the election preparations, delimitations and the election schedule.
After the meeting, the Chief Election Commissioner returned from the President's House to his office in Islamabad.
The sources said the ECP Secretary, DG Law and other four members of the commission also accompanied the commissioner when he reached the President's House.
Earlier, Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan also held a one-on-one meeting with President Arif Alvi and made an exclusive consultation regarding the Supreme Court hearing about the election date.
