Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif Monday expressed his dissatisfaction with the quality of the real-time dashboard to monitor the national and international assistance given to the government in lieu of the relief and rehabilitation activities for the flood survivors.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the PM had refused to inaugurate the dashboard after detecting flaws in it, saying that “I am not inaugurating this dashboard as it is not up to our expectations and standards”.

The dashboard has been designed to provide information to the general public about the local and international assistance being received and disbursed amongst the flood victims.

The premier was attending a ceremony to launch the dashboard where Minister of IT Aminul Haque, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lt. Gen Akhtar Nawaz, and others were present.

The prime minister was briefed about the newly-developed real-time dashboard. During the briefing, the PM pointed out the missing updated data and the weather report in it.

The technology experts tried to convince the prime minister and assured him that the dashboard would be modified within a week. But, PM Shabaz Sharif did not convince and remained reluctant to inaugurate it.

At the request of the IT Minister, the premier provisionally inaugurated the project. He said that he did not want to discourage anyone but the system should be at par with international standards and easy to understand for the public.

A website for assisting flood victims, a comprehensive flood relief management system, digital applications for field workers, and an executive dashboard for policy and decision-making are also included in the flood response system.

The dashboard will be formally inaugurated by Shehbaz Sharif

next Monday after improving it.
