For the first time in the history of Lahore, the Muttahida Naan Roti Association has raised the prices on its own, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
The body increased the prices of roti and naan by Rs5 and Rs 7 respectively while the deputy commission of Punjab capital kept quiet over the matter.
According to the association reps, since the government abolished the subsidy, they were forced to raise the rates.
The new price of the roti will be Rs15 while the cost of naan will be up to Rs25.
Citizens say that the Punjab government is spending more than Rs10 million per day on the assembly session. The government must spend this amount to the public, they said.
The district admin and price control magistrates remained silent on this grave issue. They raised the demand for pro-people action by the high-ups to provide them with relief.
