Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has inaugurated Aapni Chhat, Aapna Ghar scheme on Wednesday, reported 24 NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing the cheques distribution ceremony, Maryam Nawaz said that 5 lakh houses will be built in the next 5 years. She claimed that Punjab government has made the Aapna Chhat, Aapna Ghar scheme very easy and loan will be given only on land documents and identity card. Former PM Nawaz Sharif, Punjab senior Minister Mariyum Aurangzeb, Senator Pervez Shahid and others participated in the event.
CM Maryam thanked Nawaz Sharif for participating in the event. Maryam Nawaz said that Aapni Chhat, Aapna Ghar project was the dream of Nawaz Sharif. Chief Minister said Punjab government is going to give the first installment of the loan in a short period of one and a half months.
She claimed on merit, balloting will be drawn every month as more than 5 lakh applications have been received so far under the scheme.
Maryam Nawaz said the monthly instalment was reduced from 15 thousand to 14 thousand rupees. CM Maryam Nawaz said the most important thing is that there will not be even a rupee of interest on the loan. “If you have taken a loan of 15 lakhs, then only 15 lakhs will have to be returned in easy instalments”, Maryam Nawaz asserted. She said only a copy of identity card is being taken from applicants.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif said corrupt elements will not be tolerated in education department. She was chairing a review meeting on education sector reforms in the province. Chief Minister directed the authorities concerned to devise a fool-proof system for evaluating the performance of school teachers. She sought from them a monthly "KPI" plan for the purpose. She directed the relevant authorities to start Chief Minister School Meal Program in Jhelum, besides notifying standard guidelines to store milk for the School Nutrition Program.
Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioners to monitor schools under Punjab School Reforms Program. She directed the relevant authorities to introduce "Theme of the Month" in government schools, and sought a comprehensive plan for the up-gradation of IT lab in public sector schools of the province. She also directed to set up Center of Excellence for Early Child Education in each district, and said,”submit a report on the selection of CEO, District Education Officer and Deputy District Education Officer.”
She reviewed proposals for the formation of School Management Cadre. She also reviewed issues related to curriculum development in collaboration with the experts from Cambridge and others, and approved hiring private experts for spoken English classes in government schools.
Maryam Nawaz approved to hire "Volunteer of University" to meet the shortage of teachers in schools. She considered a pilot project to provide fortified biscuits and buns to students under the World Food Programme. She was presented a school monitoring report based on the app of school meal program.” She was briefed by the relevant authorities that students enrolment has increased by 20,000 since the start the program.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information & Culture Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat. Parliamentary Secretary Nosheen Adnan and MPA Sania Ashiq attended the meeting. Principal Secretary, Education Secretary and other relevant officers were also present. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in her message on International Day of Non-Violence said,”Non-violence guarantees real peace and success.” Chief Minister said, “ Social progress and well-being are not based on force or violence but on peace and tolerance.” She added,”Non-violence is the greatest value of humanity.”
CM said,” Violence does not solve a problem, rather it makes it worse.” She said a culture of resolving mutual differences through dialogue should be promoted.
