A sessions court in Lahore on Saturday accepted interim bail applications of nine MPAs of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz till Sept 14 who were booked in the Punjab Assembly hooliganism case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The petitions were heard by Additional Sessions Judge Yaseen Mohil who granted interim bails to Saiful Mulook Khokhar, Rana Mashhood, Rukhsana Kausar, Mirza Javed, Mian Rauf, Malik Habib Awan, Awais Leghari, Khizar Khaga and Raja Sagheer till Sept 14.
Asadullah Moon Khokhar appeared before the court on behalf of the PML-N lawmakers. He told the court that cases against his clients were politically-motivated. He said that the names of PTI MPAs were also included in the same FIR but they were declared innocent as soon as their government came into power in Punjab.
However, the judge while accepting the PLM-N MPAs’ interim bails, ordered them to participate in the investigation process.
The PML-N lawmakers were booked in connection with their rowdy behavior during the election of Punjab chief minister on April 16, 2022.
Meanwhile, talking to media outside the court building, Rana Mashhood and Awais Leghari lashed out at the Punjab government.
They were of the view that it was not the time to do politics, rather it’s time to help the flood-hit people.
Taking swipe at Chief Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi, they said that he should visit the flood affectees instead of holding rallies in Gujrat.
