Accomplished Bollywood actress Karishma Kapoor has completely refuted the years-old rumors claiming that the women in her family are restricted from work in the Industry particularly after marriage, saying: “All such talks are just talks, working in the industry is based on our women’s personal decisions in the family.”
Recently, Karisma Kapoor made an appearance on Zakir Khan's show, Aapka Apna Zakir. During the show, host, Zakir mentioned to Karisma that there was a rumour that the women of her family weren't allowed to work, so how did she manage to get permission to work? In her reply, Karisma clarified that it's a false rumour about women from her family not being allowed to work. She was quoted as saying: Yeh sab baatein hain ki mujhe allow tha yaa nahi tha (All these discussions about whether I was allowed or not are just that—discussions).
In the same conversation, Karisma added that her mom, Babita Kapoor and aunt, Neetu Kapoor, made the personal choice to leave acting. They wanted to focus on their family and have kids. However, her uncle and actor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor's wives, Geeta Bali and Jennifer, continued to work in the film industry out of choice. She continued saying: “Toh aisa kuch baat hai nahi ki Kapoor family mein shaadi ke baad kaam nahi kar sakte yaa Kapoor ladki kaam nahi kar sakte. Aisa kuch nahi tha…”
