Repatriation of illegal Afghans begins

The federal government on Friday again started a campaign to send all those Afghan nationals who are residing in Pakistan illegally back to their country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In the new crackdown, all those Afghan people who are living with Afghan citizen card holder will also be repatriated.

Federal Interior Ministry also tasked the provincial governments to repatriate all illegal Afghan nationals after expiry.

A detailed mapping report prepared by special branch regarding illegal Afghan nationals will be forwarded to provincial cabinet.

The report revealed that currently there are 99,857 illegal Afghan nationals residing in Punjab.

There are 35,235 Afghan Citizen Card Holders living in Punjab illegally while 8282 Afghans living in Lahore.

Sources said that all those Afghan Citizen Card Holders will also repatriated. A comprehensive plan is already finalized on district level including Lahore.

Provincial Home Department already established a Control Room which will monitor repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals.

Different teams comprising Punjab Police, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) started implementation of repatriation of illegal Afghan nationals.

Punjab government established two locations where illegal Afghan nationals will be gathered and later will be repatriated to Afghanistan.
