Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi Thursday issued a directive to ensure the immediate and comprehensive eradication of infections in all operation theatres of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The decision comes as a crucial step to safeguard patient safety and minimize potential risks associated with infections during surgical procedures.
Until the operation theatres are thoroughly verified and declared infection-free, they will remain closed to ensure the utmost precaution and protection of patients. Any risk of infection within the theatres could have serious consequences for patients undergoing medical procedures.
In a bid to ensure transparency and effectiveness, the Punjab CM has instructed that a third-party verification process be employed to assess the infection-free status of the operation theatres. The engagement of an external entity for this purpose aims to provide unbiased and expert scrutiny.
Patient well-being remains the primary concern for the Punjab CM and the health authorities, and all necessary measures are being taken to uphold the highest standards of healthcare and safety. Once the operation theatres are confirmed to be completely free from infections, they will be reopened for patients to access essential medical services.
