In an unprecedented move, Khyber District appointed four female Additional Station House Officers (SHOs), significantly departing from tribal customs.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, this historic decision faced strong opposition from local elders, who argued that appointing women as officers contradicts tribal traditions.

The channel reported that one of the appointed female SHOs belongs to the Christian community.

As per the channel report, all these four additional SHOs hold the rank of constable in the Khyber Police.

The channel also reported that the public has expressed joy and surprise over this groundbreaking appointment of ladies in this post.

Pertinent to mention here that in a groundbreaking moment for the tribal district of Kurram in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 35-year-old Samreen Amir, a member of the Christian community, made history last September by assuming the role of Station House Officer (SHO) at a local police station.
