The Chairman of the Appellate Inland Revenue Tribunal Mian Tauqeer Aslam has emphasized the critical role of transparent enforcement of tax laws, declaring it as the tribunal's foremost priority, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.
He was speaking at a seminar on tax law amendments and implementation organized by the Pakistan Tax Community Association in Lahore.
The event focused on post-budget discussions and featured two insightful sessions.
Mian Tauqeer Aslam highlighted the formation of the tax community as a commendable step towards improving the tax system.
The seminar was graced by prominent figures, including Muhammad Mohsin Virk, Member Judicial Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue, and Kashif Anwar, President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce.
Muhammad Mohsin Virk stressed that the establishment of organizations like the tax community would significantly aid in tax collection and increase revenue.
Kashif Anwar, President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the need for tax laws to be straightforward and practical.
He underlined the importance of simplifying the tax code to ensure better compliance and ease of understanding for taxpayers.
Other notable attendees included Hafiz Ansar-ul-Haq, Chairman of the Customs Tribunal; Abid Raza Bodla, Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue; Tariq Iftikhar, Judicial Member of the Inland Revenue; Fakhr-ul-Zaman Tarar; and Muhammad Mansha Sukhaira, President of the Pakistan Tax Community Association.
The seminar saw participation from numerous tax-related professionals across the province.
Towards the end of the event, souvenirs were presented to key personalities in recognition of their contributions and participation in the seminar.
