On the directions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, opposition leader in the Senate Shibli Faraz has resigned from the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Wednesday.
According to the sources, Senator Ali Zafar will now represent PTI in the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP), following the resignation of Omar Ayub Khan, the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, a day earlier.
Shibli Faraz's resignation comes after Imran Khan proposed the inclusion of PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Senator Ali Zafar in the judicial commission two days ago.
Omar Ayub Khan, who resigned on December 3, 20204, cited an inability to dedicate sufficient time to the commission due to multiple legal cases filed against him.
He submitted his resignation to National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, who promptly accepted it and forwarded the nomination of Barrister Gohar Ali Khan as his replacement.
This reshuffle within PTI’s representation in the Judicial Commission underscores the party’s strategic efforts to ensure influential figures occupy pivotal positions in legal and constitutional institutions.
