Ex-NA speaker says harassment of Pashtuns conspiracy against federation

Accusing the Punjab and especially Islamabad Police of harassing Pashtuns, former National Assembly (NA) speaker, PTI stalwart and MNA Asad Qaiser said on Wednesday that it was a conspiracy against Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to the media outside the Peshawar High Court (PHC), he said those who were doing this wanted the country to dismember. “Islamabad has been turned into a ‘no go’ area for the Pashtuns. PTI has always been a law-abiding party. But if the government is under the impression that it could do whatever it wanted to do to the party, then it is grossly mistaken,” he said adding, “We are standing with our leader, former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan as firm like a rock.”

He said that the PTI was the country's most popular political party that bound people of different ethnicities together.

Asad said that the federal government committed terrorism against unarmed party protestors on the night between November 26 and November 27 when the law-enforcement agencies personnel opened fire at them. “What happened on that day was unprecedented. The entire world watched the scenes of bloodshed and it became crystal clear that there was martial law in the country.”

“Bear this thing in mind that the PTI will go to any extent to expose this brutality. We will raise our voice at all international forums.

This was, he went on to say, despite the fact that the country’s constitution guaranteed citizens the right to protest.

The PTI leader said that Imran Khan and thousands of other party workers had been kept in jail without any legal justification. “I want to tell the government officials that they should not cross their limits. PTI has not yet done with its protest. The release of the party workers is our topmost priority.”

PTI leaders granted protective bail

Earlier, the PHC granted protective bail to Asad Qaiser, Shahram Khan Tarakai, Raja Basharat and other PTI leaders until December 24.
