The Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHC) on Friday reduced the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test charges to Rs4,500 per test to increase the percentage of people tested for Covid-19 as there is surge in cases in the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
As per notification, the test charges from home is fixed at Rs4,800.
Meanwhile, the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) from laboratories cost Rs1,200, said the Sindh Healthcare Commission.
According to the commission, prices were fixed after meeting with all stakeholders including laboratories and hospitals in Karachi.
Chairman Sindh Commission Ahsan Qavi said that people should complain to the Healthcare Commission if they were overcharged for the Covid-19 testing.
The commission has also stressed to take strict action against the public and private hospitals and laboratories if they charge more for the PCR test.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier the Punjab Health Commission had reduced the PCR test charges to Rs4,800 per test to increase the percentage of people tested for Covid-19.
