The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has asked Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to curb foreign currency including US dollars smuggling, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Saturday.

The Joint Director of Foreign Exchange Operations Department of State Bank has written a letter to the CAA Commercial Department officials directing immediate action.

The State Bank, in the letter written on Jan 20, has asked the CAA to provide a space for establishing an SBP booth in the cargo export section of Jinnah International airport Karachi to check foreign currency including US dollar smuggling.

The SBP along with the Customs will stop foreign currency smuggling and monitor the exchange companies at the airport, the letter adds.

The SBP booth will also help exchange companies to export foreign currency exchange.

After an increase in foreign currency smuggling, the SBP took this step to establish a booth at the CAA cargo section.
