Foolproof security for int’l cricket matches in Lahore pledged

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana on Tuesday said that the city police are determined to provide foolproof security for the tri-nation series and ICC Champions Trophy cricket matches at Gaddafi Stadium, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
CCPO Lahore said that search and sweep operations underway due to international cricket matches in Lahore while surrounding areas of Gaddafi Stadium, airport, residence of players being checked on regular basis.
CCPO further directed to continue search operations will continue against people involved in illegal activities. He further revealed that all entry and exit points of the city being monitored strictly.
Bilal Siddique Kimyana said that law enforcement personnel being trained with latest technology.
Later, a spokesman of Lahore police said that during year 2025 around 2289 search operations were conducted.
During these search operations police searched more than 89,000 houses and checked 37,000 tenants and more than 3,00,2,000 individuals while around 3,00,1000 were declared clear and necessary verification.
Legal action was taken against 1426 people who were found involved in violation of law while cases were filed against 232 people under tenants act.
During search operation 249 proclaimed offers were arrested, 205 cases were filed against drug-sellers and 39 people were taken under custody for violation of section 55/109.
Lahore police spokesman said that 248 cases were registered against people for consuming liquor while during search operation 71 hotels, 44 hostels, 6 bus stands and 7566 shops were checked.
He said that Lahore police taking effective measures to ensure public security and safety.
Moreover, Punjab home department already constituted a special audit committee for security audit of Gaddafi Stadium prior to start of tri-nation and Champions Trophy matches.
The Committee will submit a detailed audit report regarding security arrangements at Gaddafi Stadium, its surrounding areas and parking area.
The committee will submit its final report to Punjab home department on February 5, 2025,
