Judicial Commission to meet on Feb 6 to fill 26 LHC vacant posts

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi will chair the Judicial Commission meeting on Thursday (February 6) at the Supreme Court (SC) building in Islamabad to discuss the appointment of additional judges to 26 vacant posts in the Lahore High Court (LHC), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.  

Sources told 24News TV channel that the meeting would consider the name of Advocate General Punjab Khalid Ishaq for his appointment as an additional judge. 

Similarly, they informed, the names of Advocate SC Awais Khalid, Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom, Waqar Haider Awan, Advocate SC Malik Javed Iqbal Wains, Ahsan Raza Kazmi, Sardar Akbar Ali Dogar, Advocate SC Jawad Zafar, Asad Mehmood Abbasi, Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, Muhammad Shan Gull, and Registrar Lahore High Court (LHC) Abher Gul Khan would also come under discussion.  

There should be a total of 60 judges in the high court, while presently 34 judges are serving. 

Last time, judges were appointed to the LHC was on May 7, 2021.
