Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja on Monday revealed that he purchased a bulletproof vehicle because his life is in danger, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Raja appeared in front of the Standing Committee on Sports of the National Assembly alongside senior PCB officials.
The PCB chief was questioned about his pay and expenses since taking over in 2021 during the conversation.
He revealed to the committee members that his salary as PCB chairman was zero. "As chairman, I haven't yet accepted any perks that weren't necessary. I haven't received an entertainment allowance and have only so far spent 2.5 lac rupees on official tours "Raja said.
Ramiz made sure he never misused his position as PCB chairman. "I'm here to contribute to the promotion of cricket. I didn't take my wife on any business trips, and none of my family members benefited "Raja answered a participant's query.
The former cricketer also disclosed to the committee that his decision to become PCB chairman was opposed by his family.
Ramiz said: "My family opposed my accepting the PCB chairmanship. They were aware that the PCB chairman receives nothing but constant criticism ".
Ramiz said the Pakistan Cricket Board currently has the most reserves, adding that Rs610 million has been received by PSL franchisees.
Ramiz went on to say that Pakistan's ranking has improved, adding that India has been defeated by Pakistan.
Ramiz said: “When I was playing cricket, we still couldn't beat India in the World Cup.”
Ramiz said Pakistan Junior League to be held in October and PSL for women to be held in February.
Ramiz went on to say that it is a matter of pride that the PCB does not take a single penny from the government as the PCB makes its own money.
Ramiz stressed the importance of upgrading cricket stadiums in Pakistan, adding that seats need to be set up at National Stadium Karachi and Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Ramiz went on to say that most of the funding for the PCB currently comes from the ICC, adding that PCB wants to make its own money for which the board is bringing Pakistan Junior League.
Ramiz said 28 companies have expressed interest in the Pakistan Junior League.
