Punjab cabinet approves expansion plan of Data Darbar

The Punjab government has decided to delegate maximum financial autonomy to heads of all public sector hospitals in the province to provide better health facilities to the general masses, reported the 24newsHd TV channel.

A decision to this effect was taken during the 19th meeting of the provincial cabinet held in Lahore on Monday. The meeting was chaired by the caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.  

It is decided in the meeting that the medical superintendents of all health facilities will be given Rs 10 million annually at their disposal.  They will be able to buy emergency medicines, medical equipment, and other necessary hospital items to keep the health delivery system smooth.

The Punjab Cabinet also appreciated the performance of the concerned authorities for the excellent sanitation arrangements.

The participants paid tributes to the performance of provincial ministers, commissioners, deputy commissioners, and solid waste management companies for making the best cleaning arrangements throughout Punjab including Lahore on Eid-ul-Azha.

The cabinet gave its approval for the construction of new government officers’ colony in the city to solve the accommodation problems of the employees

Mohsin Naqvi directed immediate steps for the construction of a residential colony.

The meeting also okayed to include Lahore Ring Road SL-III and the elevation project from Niazi Chowk to Babu Sabu in the annual development program. The Cabinet approved the expansion plan of Data Darbar.

Under the expansion project, langar khana will be constructed according to international standards, and facilities for visitors will be increased.

Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed to make payments at market rate to the owners of land acquired for the expansion project.

The Cabinet approved the signing of an agreement between the Local Government Department and the Punjab Information Technology Board regarding "Aap Ki Baldia, Helpline 1198".

The cabinet also gave its node to the financial aid for the families of deceased children and affected children in Ahmedpur Sharqiya Tehsil of Bahawalpur District.

 The participants of the meeting also gave their consent to the amendment to Punjab Government Rules of Business 2011 for the Center for Professional Development of Public Prosecutors in order to provide training to public prosecutors.

The provincial ministers approved the establishment of the Nishtar Institute of Ophthalmology and Allied Vision Sciences in Multan.

“Approval of revised procedure for appointment of principals in government colleges was also given by the meeting.

It okayed the audit report of the Punjab government accounts for the financial year 2022-23.

“Approval of draft agreement between Excise and Taxation Department and Punjab Information Technology Board regarding scanning of motor vehicle registration documents/files was awarded in the meeting.

The cabinet meeting approved the withdrawal of the management of the Okara Arts Council from the Lahore Arts Council and hands it over to Punjab Arts Council.
